Empire And Tyranny
Empire And Tyranny
The Rutherford Chronicles – Part 3
Why did Germany launch another World War?
Joe returned from WWI to an England of peace and prosperity, a broken man. His wife nursed him back to strength, and he returned to his pre-war job in the shipyards. However, the 1929 stock market crash and the Great Depression of the 1930s caused new misery as millions lost their jobs. The third part of The Rutherford Chronicles shows the world getting ready for another World War and the difficult times that come with it. Like Joe, they would follow the migration of impoverished North East workers and their families. They left their closing mines and declining shipyards for a new life in the burgeoning South around London.
Adolf Hitler was on the rise in Germany. He was busy convincing his hungry and disillusioned people he would restore Germany’s wealth and territory. However, before long, he started World War II in Europe. Once more, Britain joined the fight, and the colonies and dominions of the British Empire rushed to help Britain fight its old enemy at home and abroad.
